Job Description

Job Purpose: 

Reporting to the Head of Health, the Occupational Health Physician will supervise the staff and activities of Occupational Health function as well as the contractors assigned to be carrying out any of the occupational health activities, in implementing and running the various relevant programs of occupational health in accordance with the policies, standards and compliance requirements of the Education City and Qatar Foundation. 

Key Result Areas: 

 Provides occupational health services (i.e., occupational surveillance exams, medical monitoring, etc.) 
 Conducts histories and physical examinations for acute episodic and urgent care. 
 Prescribes medications and/or medical treatments based on best practice standards.. 
 Develops treatment plans in collaboration with patients; educates and advises on medical issues as needed. 
 Provides referrals both internally and externally to appropriate medical resource or specialty. 
 Evaluates the effectiveness of medical care and monitors progress of patients. 
 Identifies emergency situations and provides care and maintains medical records. 
 Evaluation and treatment of work related injury and illness. 
 Performance of physical examinations related to employment (Post-employment, return to work). 
 Evaluation and treatment of non-work related illness and injury as part of Employee Health Clinic. 
 Establishes procedures to identify occupational hazards, to notify appropriate agencies of occupational diseases or injuries, and to investigate job related injuries or illness. 
 Provides preventive medicine support. Directs health education and control measures for preventable diseases and injuries. 
 Provides advice on nutrition, food service sanitation, water supply safety, sewage and waste disposal, immunizations, and health education. 
 Develops policies and procedures and prepares directives governing flight medicine, preventive medicine, and occupational medicine.

Skills

 Graduate of M.B.Ch.B or equivalent from accredited medical school. 
 Minimum 2 years of post-residency clinical experience 
 Minimum 2 years experience in a occupational healthcare setting 
 Board Certified in Occupational Medicine is a plus 
 Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification 
 Proficient with MS Office 
 Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with client and employees 
 Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. 
 Strong leadership, interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to influence others when a direct reporting relationship does not exist. 
 Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities. 
 Effective problem-solving ability with demonstrated investigative and solution building skills are essential. 
 Experience establishing occupational health programs in an academic environment. 
 Exemplary knowledge and experience in the interpretation and practical implementation of applicable legislation and industry codes of practice as related to the academic field. 
 A good team builder. 
 Work productively with all levels of personnel. 
 A sound knowledge of computer applications/software is essential. 
 Determine work methods from alternative existing method in accordance with the established policies and professional standards. 
 Monetary decisions are made in accordance with approved budget limitations. 
 Keeps the Supervisor advised of the progress of work at all times.
